Americans should NEVER be forced by their government to promote messages conflicting with their beliefs. However, the State of California has passed a coercive new law mandating that pro-life pregnancy centers and their staff and volunteers advertise tax-funded abortions. Failure of centers to comply with this abortion promotion mandate will result in fines and penalties that could close their doors for good.

If the Supreme Court should uphold the California law, there are two other states (Hawaii and Illinois) that are ready to enforce similar laws. If the Supreme Court does not rule in favor of the California pregnancy centers, Georgia may be next! Our religious freedom and the First Amendment are at stake! Laws forcing pregnancy centers to promote abortion will devastate centers like ours, because the fines for noncompliance are exorbitant!

The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), a powerhouse pro-life legal organization representing nearly 1,500 member pregnancy centers, is fighting back against this government overreach through the NIFLA v. Becerra case … which is about to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. The media reports that this case has “significant and far-reaching ramifications” for the future of the pro-life movement and free speech.

So what can we do?

1) PRAY! Please pray for the Supreme Court Justices to be open to the NIFLA arguments and to rule justly. Pray for Tom Glessner, President of NIFLA, and all who are defending pregnancy centers. Ask your family, friends and church to pray.

2) If you are led to go to Washington for the rally on March 20th (9 am, before the hearing at 10 am), GO!

3) Make a donation to NIFLA. They are a small, non-profit organization taking on the state of California! Though small, they have been an effective force in the pro-life movement for years. Tom Glessner, who founded NIFLA (National Institute of Family and Life Advocates) has been a tireless advocate for pregnancy centers. NIFLA also provides the nurse training in ultrasound, specifically tailored to the needs of pregnancy centers. Making a contribution at this time would not only help NIFLA financially but give Tom Glessner and his staff great encouragement.
