This will be a quick look back, because we certainly do not want to dwell on the past year. However, we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge what God did through our ministry during a very challenging time. We give Him all the glory and praise for the impact we had during 2020 on our community and beyond.
Our impact went beyond our community because of our ability to remain open throughout the year, even during the height of the pandemic shutdown. Because we were one of the few pregnancy help centers in Metro Atlanta to remain open, we served women from outside our typical service area.
Even though we operated for ten weeks with a reduced staff, no volunteers and only medical appointments, 2020 was a year for rejoicing because of what God did through this ministry. We have prayed to have more opportunities to connect with women who are conflicted about their pregnancy, and we were able to get in front of 63 women during 2020 who were either intending to abort or undecided (meaning abortion was still an option). As of today, we know of at least 21 moms who changed their minds and opted for life for their baby!
During the shutdown we abandoned the standard requirements for “earning” material things through the Earn While You Learn educational program, and we gave out diapers, wipes and formula to anyone who needed help and could “drive through” for pickup. Being able to do this made our ministry an essential service not only for the medical services that we provided but also for the material help we gave families in need.
It remained our priority to engage with clients in spiritual discussions and to share the good news of Jesus. Even though we saw fewer clients during 2020, the Gospel was shared over 200 times and 12 clients made a new profession of faith in Jesus Christ!
Instead of discouraging us, 2020 has emboldened us to prepare for even greater accomplishments in 2021. We are looking forward to what the Lord will do. He has already answered our prayers for additional volunteers and blessed us with new financial partners to add to our wonderful group of faithful long-time donors. The uncertainty of the times we are in gives us more opportunities for sharing the love of Christ, the truth about the sanctity of life, and the wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ.
