Heather served as a volunteer Peer Counselor at the Center for over four years and brings some valuable assets to this position and we are all looking forward to working with her moving forward and hope you will enjoy getting to know her as well.
Here is a bit more about Heather to help you get to know her:
Heather was raised in a God-fearing home in northeast Ohio and personally came to know Jesus as a young girl. She married her high school sweetheart, in college and worked as a pre-school teacher. Since 1996, Heather and her husband have been involved in fulltime vocational work with two different mission agencies. They spent a total of 14 years living and working in southern Africa, raising their three daughters. In Africa, Heather served vulnerable people through HIV and AIDS work and anti-trafficking initiatives. They moved back to the United States in the summer of 2017.
In March 2016, Heather’s oldest daughter went to be with Jesus after an accident involving a drunk driver. Their other two daughters are married and live in Tennessee. One of Heather’s greatest joys is being an Ouma (grandmother) to their three young grandchildren.
Heather has a master’s degree in biblical counseling with a focus in crisis response and trauma. She’s been a volunteer peer counselor at Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center since 2018 and in March of 2022 became the Assistant Director to train under the direction of Luci, the Executive Director as Luci prepared for her retirement. Luci officially retired in December on 2022 and Heather moved into the role of ED. We look forward to working alongside Heather as our new Executive Director!
